 The Telangana State Government has introduced fresh directives for the Single Women Pension Scheme, wherein each qualifying unmarried woman will receive a monthly pension of Rs. 2016. This initiative was inaugurated on the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day, observed on the 2nd of June, 2017. It is important to note that beneficiaries under this scheme must not be registered under any other social security pension scheme nor receive pension benefits from either public or private pension schemes. Eligibility for TS Single Women Pension Scheme 2023

According to the updated guidelines, single women beneficiaries must not exceed an annual income of Rs. 1.5 Lakh in rural regions and Rs. 2.0 Lakh in urban zones. The term "single women" pertains to married women who are at least 18 years old and separated from their husbands. The separation duration should be a minimum of one year. If there is a lack of evidence for the separation period, the local tehsildar can verify the details.

Unmarried women aged above 30 years in rural areas and 35 years in urban areas are also entitled to avail the advantages of the single women pension scheme. Other eligible candidates for the scheme include:

Women whose husbands are detained in Gulf countries and are currently incarcerated.

Those abandoned by their families.

Widows of farmers, handloom workers, and primary earners who died due to suicide or accidents.

According to a survey conducted by the PR & RD Department, approximately 2.4 Lakh single women in the state stand to benefit from this scheme. The implementation of this scheme is estimated to cost the state government around Rs. 34 Crore every month.

Should a single woman remarry or attain permanent employment or financial stability, the scheme's benefits will be discontinued.

Application Forms for Single Women Pension Scheme

The application forms for the Single Women Pension Scheme are integrated with the Aasara Pensions system. Completed application forms for the Aasara Pension Scheme in Telangana will be collected from all eligible applicants. These forms will then be managed by different officials based on the location:

In rural regions, the panchayat secretary will oversee the application forms.

In urban local bodies, the bill collector will be responsible for managing the forms.

In GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) areas, the village revenue officer will take charge of the forms.

Announcement of Pension Scheme for Single Women in Telangana

Telangana government had made an announcement to start a pension scheme for single women from poor families in Telangana to provide them financial support. Under Single Women Pension Scheme in Telangana, an amount of Rs. 1000 was provided in the form of pension in the 1st phase of the scheme which was later enhanced to Rs. 2016 per month.

The scheme will benefit single women whose annual income is below Rs 2 lakh and belong to BPL (Below Poverty Line) families. “Poverty inflicts more misery among women than men” keeping the point in mind, the government had decided to launch Single Women Pension Scheme under which a pension of Rs. 1,000 was to be provided to single women. And now this pension amount is raised to Rs. 2,016 per month.

As per the initial announcement, the district collectors had been directed to start registering details of single women eligible for the pension. And the request sent to all legislators to get eligible women enrolled under the scheme. At present, the government is providing pension to aged people, differently-abled person and widows under Asara scheme. A scheme to provide Rs. 2016 as monthly pension to women beedi workers is also under implementation.

To strengthen women, the Telangana government also launched Kalyana Laxmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes to meet the wedding expenses of girls under which thousands of families benefited and received financial assistance.
