An annual release of an additional Rs. 45 lakh in administrative funds from the Central share will be allocated to smaller states, including Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand, the North Eastern states (excluding Assam and Tripura), and all Union Territories (excluding Jammu and Kashmir), in addition to the 1.70% administrative funds already provided to these states/UTs.
The Program Management Unit (PMU) and National Technical Support Agency (NTSA) will continue their operations until the fiscal year 2023-24 to ensure effective program management and technical support.

Benefits of Extension of PMAY-G Deadline

Extended for three years from March 2021 to March 2024, the project is estimated to require approximately Rs. 2.17 lakh crore for the completion of the remaining 1.55 crore houses. This expenditure will be divided, with the central share amounting to Rs. 1,25,106 crore and the state share to Rs. 73,475 crore, with an additional Rs. 18,676 crore designated for interest repayment to NABARD.

The cost of unit (house) assistance will be shared between the central and state governments at a ratio of 60:40 in plain areas and 90:10 for northeastern and hilly states. Beneficiaries will be selected based on data from the Socio-Economic Caste Census of 2011 and will receive an allowance of Rs. 120,000 in plain areas and Rs. 130,000 in hilly areas for home construction. The unit size will be increased from the current 20 sq.mt. to up to 25 sq.mt., including a designated area for hygienic cooking.

Funds will be electronically transferred directly to the beneficiary's account. Beneficiaries will have the option to avail themselves of a loan of up to Rs. 70,000 for house construction, if desired.
